What is coquette?
The coquette trend is a fashion trend that has been very hip on TikTok for a while. It is a very feminine look where a lot of pink is worn, but many hyper-feminine silhouettes and fabrics also come in handy. Think ballerina core. Coquette outfits use a lot of lace, the color pink, corsets and bows. And it is precisely the latter that is where the trend has gotten slightly out of hand.

TikTok users are making fun of the trend by applying it to anything and everything. Everything can suddenly be coquette. From our food to our pets. Nothing is too crazy. On TikTok you see many videos where people tie a cute bow around their water bottle, or even a piece of cheese. It kind of shows how absurd the fashion trends on TikTok have become. There is nothing wrong with the coquette aesthetic and wanting to wear this style. However, there is an abundance of different aesthetics and subcultures on TikTok. In our opinion, this somewhat explains why people no longer take every aesthetic seriously. Fortunately, it produces funny memes, exactly what TikTok is so good at!
