Shannen Doherty (52) married the photographer Kurt Iswarienko in 2011. The actress had imagined a future together with him, in which even offspring played a role. But then the Charmed actress was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015. After thinking she had the disease under control two years later, it returned in 2020 to an incurable extent. “I didn’t just want a child for myself, but also for my husband. I wanted it for our marriage, I wanted this part to be fulfilled for him too,” says the 52-year-old in her podcast “Let’s Be Clear with Shannen Doherty”. To do this, she underwent artificial insemination several times. Yes Shannen also says that in 2017 she thought this process had a negative impact on her cancer: “Many other women I knew who had undergone artificial insemination also ended up getting breast cancer.” She thought that hormones increased the risk – after it was said at the time that there were no longer any detectable tumor residues, she did not want any further fertilization.
The series star separated from his husband in spring 2023. Shannen told her listeners in December that shortly before she underwent brain surgery, she found out that Kurt had been cheating on her for two years. She never really wanted a divorce, but at some point that was the only solution.
