Other countries other manners! As a football player you get around quite a bit. James Rodriguez (32) played for FC Bayern Munich from 2017 to 2019. He then moved to Qatar for a season, where he played for the Al-Rayyan SC football club. Since then he has also played in Greece and Brazil. The midfielder now talks about his experiences abroad – which found time in Qatar James takes some getting used to!
In the sports program “Globo Esporte” he now talks about his career-related stays abroad. In Qatar in particular, he had difficulty familiarizing himself with the country’s customs. “We know that in football everyone is naked when showering, but my teammates told me: You can’t do it like that. I was scared,” he reports. He also found it difficult to eat without cutlery, as is common in many Arab countries: “You’re crazy, I won’t eat with my hand.”
But Munich didn’t really appeal to the Colombian either. He previously explained in a podcast that he didn’t like the climate. “It’s cold there. The Germans are cold people too,” he said. However, the football club treated him well.
