Mark Gillis experienced a real nightmare last summer when he ended up in hospital in a critical condition. It is now clear that he really had an angel on his shoulders. In a candid conversation with Privé, dad Peter Gillis said that the story had a special touch. Mark’s mother, Peter’s ex-wife, was taken to hospital on the day because she was not feeling well. She was immediately admitted to intensive care. During their visit, the doctor noticed that Mark did not look well. The doctor suggested that Mark be examined and that turned out to be a life-saving decision. Wow! “Mark had severe pneumonia and was immediately taken to the ICU, right next to his mother,” Peter said.
Huge relief
Peter remembers the shocking news they received the next morning: “The doctor told us that if Mark had not been examined and just gone home, he probably wouldn’t have made it to the next morning. We might have found him dead in his chalet.” The fact that Mark is still alive feels like a huge relief to the family. And the good news is that his mother is also better now.
