On social media, you can respond to almost anything. Only on Instagram Stories you could previously respond, but then it became a private message. Until now! You can now also post public comments under an Instagram Story. Here’s how it works.
Instagram adds new feature
Instagram has added a new feature to the app. From now on, you can post comments under Stories of your friends. Previously, you could only respond in the form of a private message or a like that only the poster could see. Now you can also respond under a Story. This response is visible to every other user who views the Story. With this new feature, there is now a way to publicly respond to a Story.
The new feature has some limitations. For example, private accounts can only receive comments that the user follows back. So if someone follows you but you don’t, they can’t post comments. This provides a quick new way to find out if someone follows you back…. For public accounts, the feature is available to people that the user follows. So someone who doesn’t follow you can’t comment on your Story.
Temporary comments
The unique thing about Instagram Stories is that they are only available on your profile for 24 hours. The same will apply to the comments under your Stories. As soon as the Story disappears from your profile, the comments will also disappear. If you want to keep the comments, you can do this by saving the relevant Story as a Highlight. Don’t want this? Then you can see the likes of your old Stories in your Story archive. If you don’t want to apply the new function to one or all of your Stories? Then you can also disable the option to respond to a Story.
How it works
Do you want to leave a comment under someone’s Story? Then that’s very easy. When you view someone’s Story, you will see the option appear at the bottom of the screen for the people you can respond to. The option is then just above the bar with which you can respond via a private message, because yes, that function still exists. By clicking on the option, a comment section opens where you have the possibility to type a comment. Do you want to view the comments under your own Story? Then you can also click on this. It is also possible to respond to your own Story, which can be useful when you want to respond to comments from others.
