For the first time since she became queen, Camilla will appear in a documentary. Not about herself, but about an important social theme: domestic violence. A subject that is close to her heart.
Recently, Camilla has been working with ITV on a major project. The Queen will soon appear in a new documentary that aims to raise awareness of domestic abuse. The film, called ‘Her Majesty The Queen: Behind Closed Doors’, was announced at the Edinburgh TV Festival.
Domestic violence
Camilla will appear in her first documentary since King Charles’ coronation, in which she will speak about a subject she wants to break the taboo around. She was followed for a year for the 90-minute documentary, which will air later in 2024.
In the documentary we see Camilla during various working visits that fit within the theme of domestic violence. The program includes interviews with victims of domestic violence, family members who have lost a loved one and people who are committed to stopping the violence.
Breaking taboos
The idea is to break the silence around the home. In the documentary, Her Majesty also organizes roundtable discussions with teenagers on this topic. We also get to see how they celebrate International Women’s Day in Buckingham Palace.
“ITV is proud to be working with the Queen to make this documentary on this hugely important issue,” said ITV’s Sue Murphy. “We hope the film will raise awareness and help bring about change in our society.”
Since 2021, Queen Camilla has been the patron of the charity SafeLives, which fights domestic violence. It is not yet known when the documentary will be shown.
