Traditionally, the Danish royal couple sails to various places in the country with their ship the Dannebrog. And if we are to believe the photos, the couple is having a great time there!
This week, Denmark’s King Frederik and Queen Mary are taking to the open sea, as the annual summer voyage has begun. They will be mooring at various locations in the country on the royal ship Dannebrog, which will result in a whole host of cheerful images.
Annual Summer Tour
It is a tradition for the Danish royals to make a boat trip along various Danish places every year in the summer. This tradition started with King Christian, and was later continued by King Frederik IX and also his successor Queen Margrethe. Well, and then the current King Frederik and his wife Mary can’t stay behind, of course.
Visit to Bornholm
The royal couple has not been idle in the past few days. They arrived on Monday with their ship on the island of Bornholm, located in the Baltic Sea. After a festive reception, including a ride in the carriage, the two visited the craft center in Bornholm. There they could admire the art of ceramics, glass, textiles, wood and metal.
After lunch, a visit to a church and an old power plant was also planned. Very interesting of course, but there is something else that catches our attention: the couple’s choice of clothing! They both wear similar cognac-colored trousers and a cream blazer, completely matchy-matchy. Believe us, you really want to swipe through to the last pictures for this.

Another little fun fact: the necklace Mary is wearing has two charms with the letters F and M hanging from it. How cute!
Later in the day, the royal couple changed outfits again, as they held a reception at the Dannebrog in the evening. Frederik pulled a classic suit out of the closet for this, and Mary appeared in a soft pink floral dress with puff sleeves by the Danish brand ArtFusion.

Romantic walk on Ærø
On Tuesday, the King and Queen set sail for their next destination: the island of Ærø in southern Denmark. The couple took a walk through the green nature, and Mary decided to decorate her hat with a flower wreath for the occasion. The idyllic snapshots look like they came straight out of a boho magazine, don’t they?

In addition to the nature walk, Mary and Frederik also went into the cities, where they were warmly welcomed by the locals. Mary is wearing a maxi skirt by Joseph Fashion, combined with blue slingbacks by Jimmy Choo and a hat by Canopy Bay. The latter is a favorite of the queen, because she wore the hat on several state visits and vacations this year, and during the Olympic Games. But hey, we have to admit: it looks gorgeous on her.

In the evening, another reception took place on the royal ship, where various guests from the municipality of Ærø were welcomed with a delicious buffet. Salmon, crayfish, rooster: the sight of all these delicacies makes our mouths water. Mary is wearing another fantastic floral dress, this time from the brand Etro.
Assens and Vejle
The summer trip is not over yet, because today Frederik and Mary hope to moor in the town of Assens where a packed program awaits them. Tomorrow they will end their trip in the municipality of Vejle, after which the Dannebrog will set course for home again. We are already looking forward to the last pictures!
