The eternal differences between millennials and Gen Z are hilarious to watch. According to Gen Z, millennials are real fossils and according to millennials, Gen Z people know nothing about life. The differences between the two eras can be seen in all kinds of areas. Lifestyle, language use and especially fashion. The younger generation officially calls you old if you wear these shoes when going out.

Shoes when going out
On TikTok, we often see videos about the fashion differences between millennials and Gen Z. For example, the older generation often wears ankle socks, while the younger generation prefers long and high socks. Certain sneakers also belong to a certain generation. And the funny thing is, you can often tell from the footwear whether someone is a millennial or a Gen Z’er.
A video has gone viral in which millennials are actually making fun of the new generation. It’s about going out outfits and especially about the shoes that Gen Z seems to wear most of the time when going out. Conversely, the shoes that millennials used to wear when going out make you instantly and officially old!
Heels vs Sneakers
The video shows a few young girls in a club with – for 90’s babies – striking clothing choices. What is ‘normal’ for Gen Z (jeans, top and sneakers), is almost too crazy for words for millennials. In the comments we read a lot of reactions like: “The best thing about going out was getting dolled up”. And it used to be a thing to hobble home with your heels under your arm. “Fashion has definitely changed, I’m 35 and when we used to go out clubbing it was mini dresses and the tallest heels going even when it was snowing outside”, writes another millennial.

Comfortable
Luckily, there are also a lot of millennials who don’t feel offended. They understand very well that going out these days is much less about the shortest skirts and the highest heels. “They look so comfy and still cute. I don’t miss my feet aching after the club.” Yes, we have to be honest; dancing all night in sneakers is a lot more comfortable. Although it is of course also fun to get ready for a night out. Are you a millennial in denial? Then don’t wear heels to the club. Gen Z’ers will see right through you!
