Charles and Camilla shine at Holyroodhouse garden party

The king in particular is very pleased with his broad smile.

The British monarch is not averse to a flamboyant garden party. The royal family likes to use this opportunity to meet as many people as possible and in this way to recognize and reward their public services. Last Monday it was high time for such a decadent garden party at Holyroodhouse, hosted by King Charles and Queen Camilla.

Garden parties

Every summer, four of these posh garden parties are held, three of which are at Buckingham Palace. For the fourth party, the lucky guests are allowed to travel to Scotland’s Holyroodhouse. Yesterday, the day finally arrived: King Charles and his wife Camilla invited a motley crew to celebrate Holyrood Week in Scotland. From prominent surgeons to lieutenants, the list of guests was incredibly diverse. And with the enormous network that the British monarch has built up over all those years, a respectable 8,000 guests attended the party.

Royal dressing

The guests dress in neat clothing, suitable for the occasion. Men wear neat long suits, and women wear a dress, often with a hat. Although this is a common outfit, the photos also show other cultural attire, resulting in a wonderfully varied group. Apart from the clothing of the guests, the appearance of the royals is also flawless. Camilla and Charles made a stately entrance when they came down the stairs together with Charles’ brother, Prince Edward, and his wife, Duchess Sophie. The ladies were both dressed in beautiful light blue dresses and neat hats, and the gentlemen wore a gray suit with a top hat. Incidentally, the gentlemen took off their hats while listening to the national anthem halfway up the stairs, as a sign of respect.

Festive atmosphere

Despite being diagnosed with cancer earlier this year, Charles was in good spirits at the garden party. The now 75-year-old king even wanted to stay longer than planned at the party in the gardens of Holyroodhouse so he could speak to as many of the guests as possible. If that’s not a sign that the king is doing well, then we don’t know what is.
