Almost half of adults in the Netherlands sometimes experience mental problems. Talking is important, and these places can help you quickly.
Conversations about mental problems
Talking about your feelings and health helps you process these problems. This way you can deal with it better and give it a place. It is true that the waiting lists for therapy are very long and you do not always get the help you need when you ask for it. This is very important, and you can go to these places for free and quickly to have a conversation with a professional.
1. 113
You can talk directly about thoughts related to suicide via the number 113. This is completely anonymous and you can call or chat with a counselor. You can also register for online guidance from a psychologist.
2. Are you okay?
Through this support line, anyone between the ages of ten and twenty-five can call or chat with a trained professional anonymously and free of charge. They will listen to you and offer support.
3. The Listening Line
Via this helpline, the Listening Line, you can get in touch with a specially trained volunteer or employee day and night. You can contact us by telephone, chat or e-mail for a listening ear and a good conversation. You can express all your feelings and stories, even if you don’t quite know how to express yourself, the person on the other end of the line will help you find them. It doesn’t matter what you talk about: a bad day, a relationship that has ended, an argument, loneliness or just to have a chat.
4. Ease
At Ease you do not need to make an appointment (just like the other helplines), and you can always contact us anonymously and free of charge. Young people between the ages of twelve and twenty-five are helped by listening people on this helpline and it is available for all problems.
5. MIND Correlation
Do you experience mental problems, do you have problems with others or do you know someone who struggles with mental problems? On weekdays you can talk to an expert counselor for free and anonymously. This can be done via a telephone conversation, but also via chat, e-mail or WhatsApp. They will be able to help you further by talking about it well and offering a listening ear.
