Princess Amalia visited the three mounted Honorary Escorts in Wassenaar on Saturday afternoon, September 14. At the Duindigt racecourse, the riders and horses of the Honorary Escorts of the Cavalry, the police and the Royal Marechaussee prepared for Prince’s Day.
The Princess of Orange received an explanation from the commanders about the preparations and spoke with a number of riders about, among other things, riding in an escort and about the various training courses.
The mounted Honorary Escort of the Cavalry belongs to the Regiment Hussars Princess Catharina-Amalia. The escort consists of the commander, trumpet group and timpani horse, a standard guard and two platoons. The 64 horses were made available by private owners.
The mounted Escort of Honour of the police rides on 68 of its own horses and consists of the commander with adjutants, timpani horse and trumpeters, a standard guard and two platoons. The Mounted Escort of Honour of the Royal Marechaussee rides on 34 horses and consists of the commander with adjutants, a standard guard and a platoon.
