Thinning hair? This is how you prevent and treat hair loss!
Eventually we all suffer from it: thinning hair. But can you prevent it and can you remedy it? I started researching after I started to suffer from hair loss and thinning hair and asked my dermatologist and endocrinologist for help.

Still, you have to be careful with these hairstyles! By regularly wearing super tight hairstyles (especially very tight buns or extremely tight ponytails where not a single strand of hair should stick out), you promote hair loss.
Avoid stress
Another common factor according to the Haarstichting.nl website: stress. Now, preventing and relieving stress is of course very easy to say and not so simple to apply every day.
But regularly make time for your favorite hobby, take some moments of rest during your day and try to do fun things often (this could be sports, but also making a nice diamond painting, etc., whatever you find relaxing).
Positive stress can also cause hair loss: just think of a wedding, a big birthday, etc. So it does not always have to be about negative stress such as an operation, loss, etc.
Hormonal hair loss
Hormonal hair loss is also common: hormonal hair loss, as the name suggests, has to do with your hormones. Some typical cases include hair loss after pregnancy (post-partum) or when you go through menopause.
Side effects of medication
Some medications have the side effect of (temporarily) losing more hair. Once you stop taking the medication, this may gradually return to normal. Please note: never simply stop taking your medication without consulting your GP or specialist!
After illness
During or after an illness (for example a bad flu with fever), you may also experience additional hair loss. This is often temporary, and after about six months you will notice that you are starting to get baby hairs again.
What can you do against hair loss?
First of all: go to your doctor to see if you can determine the cause. This is not always clear.
Also take a look at your eating habits and lifestyle: do you eat unhealthy, sleep little and have a lot of stress? Time to address that! You can also see if a hair growth product such as Minoxidil works for you, hair vitamins or DHEA.
Take care of your thin hair and scalp
Precisely because you have thinner hair, your scalp is quickly exposed to the sun and harmful UV rays.
