Wow!
We had to wait a while, but last week the time finally arrived. The first series of episodes of the third Bridgerton season has been released on Netflix! Although we trust that you are now completely up to date with everything about the barrel, we still think we have a fun Bridgerton fact in store for you.
Special dress
Everyone knows that Diana had a nose for fashion. In 2024, outfits are still often linked to those of the late princess. However, we didn’t expect a dress from Bridgerton to have anything to do with the princess. Yet it is true, says Florence Hunt, the actress who plays Hyacinth Bridgerton in the series.
Blue dress
At the premiere of the brand new season, the actress told People that she was given the honor of wearing a dress cut from the same fabric as one of Princess Diana’s dresses. “I wore this beautiful blue dress and I believe it was cut from a Princess Diana dress that she wore at some point,” seventeen-year-old Florence said at the premiere.
“They cut off a piece of one of the dresses they were making for Princess Diana and they turned this fabric into a new dress, which was really crazy. It’s crazy, yes,” she adds. It is also her favorite look that her character can wear in the new season.
Piece of cloth
Florence was even allowed to ‘keep a piece of the dress’ by the series’ fashion team. “I just loved it. I felt like I was carrying a piece of history,” she told People. However, the actress did not say which of her costumes came from Princess Diana’s royal wardrobe, nor did she reveal which original look her fabric came from. Since we know that Hyachinth’s outfit in question is colored blue, it could easily be the dress below.
When it comes to that dress, it almost has to be that the fabric comes from a light blue dress from Diana. Diana didn’t wear that color very often, but when she did, she made a big splash. One of our favorites is the Jacques Azagury dress that she wore in 1997 to a performance of the ballet Swan Lake.
In addition to Diana’s looks, one of Bridgerton’s houses is also said to be inspired by the late princess’ childhood home. In December 2020, creator Chris Van Dusen said that the Bridgerton family home was inspired by the Spencer family’s ancestral home – Althorp House. “The interior of Bridgerton House was inspired by my visit to Althorp when I was developing the show. Elegance. Opulence. And that #staircase,” he wrote on X at the time. Ha!
