We have some really sad news to share. Eva Hermans-Kroot, known from Over mijn lijk, has been told that her incurable lung cancer can no longer be treated. She doesn’t know exactly how long she has left, maybe two months, maybe six. Either way, it’s a very difficult time for her and her loved ones.
Over My Dead Body-Eva’s Battle with Lung Cancer
A quick recap for those who missed it: Eva was told in 2021 that she had stage 4 lung cancer. That’s why she appeared in the program Over mijn lijk. With ups and downs, she has made it so far, which even exceeded her own expectations. In December she told the AD: “I previously thought that I wouldn’t be around in 2024, but now I might even be able to celebrate my 26th birthday.”
The Clap
But yesterday came the big blow. Eva just threw it out loud on Instagram: “I’ve exhausted my treatment options.” She felt increasingly worse because of the treatment she was receiving and didn’t feel good about it. After four weeks, she was finally allowed to return to the hospital to see if the new treatment, Talazoparic, worked. She was incredibly tense for that appointment, because if this didn’t work, there would be no more treatments.
No more other treatments
At the doctor’s it was immediately clear: something was wrong. The treatment had done nothing and there were no other treatments for her. Eva asked: “So I’m finished with treatment?” And the specialist could only say: “Unfortunately yes.”
How long does Eva have left?
Eva really doesn’t know how long she has left. Maybe two months, maybe six. The fact is: the cancer is growing and there is really nothing more that can be done about it. Not normal sad, right? The news hit Eva like a bomb. She feels numb and it hasn’t really sunk in yet. Her followers react en masse with sweet messages under the message. Lida Hakeboom, who was in the same boat, writes: “Oohhhhh dear Eva. How sad. I can only send you a hundred big hugs and all the love in the universe. Thinking of you, wonderful woman.” You can view Eva’s sad post below:
