Máxima’s style and appearance are definitely not set in stone. In the coming weeks we will be leafing through her photo album. With today: 2004.
The year 2004 starts for Máxima with sleepless nights and lots of cuddling. The newborn Amalia takes her agenda hostage and the princess is happy to adapt to that. In February, work is resumed. On 19 February, Máxima is present at the minting of an Amalia coin worth 10 euros. The princess wears her fuchsia suit by Frans Hoogendoorn and a long coat by Natan.
On March 13, Máxima will award the Geuzenpenning to Yolanda Pulecio. Her coat with leather piping comes from the studio of Ineke de Jong and debuted in 2001.
At the end of March, the Van Oranje family leaves for Lech for a skiing holiday. In Austria, Willem-Alexander and Máxima hear that Queen Juliana has died. At the funeral of the former queen, the princess wears a black outfit with white accents, entirely in accordance with the dress code. Designer: Edouard Vermeulen of Natan.
For the wedding of Prince Friso and Mabel Wisse Smit, Máxima orders a black and white suit with shells along the edge. This ensemble also comes from Natan.
On Queen’s Day 2004, Máxima wears an outfit that can rightly be called iconic: a denim jacket with frayed edges, combined with a red and white top and skirt. Label: Natan.
For the wedding of Frederik and Mary of Denmark, Máxima orders an asymmetric evening dress with layers from Valentino.
At the end of May, Felipe and Letizia of Spain will tie the knot. During the church ceremony, Maxima will wear a soft pink complet by Natan. Her ravel hat is a design by Delvigne.
Shortly after the Spanish visit, the princely couple is in Turkey. Máxima wears, among other things, red and white trousers with a red jacket by Natan.
In June, Maxima will open an art exhibition in The Hague. The light gray robe manteau by Natan is already hanging in red in her walk-in closet.
For the baptism of Princess Amalia on June 12, 2004, Máxima orders a white suit from Valentino.
For Prince’s Day 2004, Máxima orders a long robe with matching tweed jacket from Benito Fernandez.
Tweed was also chosen for Claus-Casimir’s baptism.
In mid-October, Máxima wears a leather jacket during a working visit.
On October 20, 2004, Máxima takes a seat in the Council of State. Her red coat comes from Natan’s studio.
For a parliamentary conference, Máxima puts up her blond locks.
The year ends sadly with the death of Prince Bernhard. Máxima wears a white coat with the daisy earrings that she received as a gift from Bernhard in 2002.
