Rumors about Lady Gaga’s gender
In the year 2024, speculating about someone’s gender is really not done. But early in Lady Gaga’s career, rumors swirled about the singer’s gender. In the 00’s and 10’s, Lady Gaga was asked what her gender was in almost every interview. People were convinced that she was actually a man. But Gaga never really addressed the rumors until now. She explained why she never felt it necessary to really address the rumors on an episode of What’s Next? The Future With Bill Gates on Netflix. “When I was in my early 20s there was a rumor that I was a man,” Gaga said. ‘I went all over the world. I traveled for tours and for promoting my records and almost every interview I sat in they said — there was this imagery on the internet that had been doctored — they’d say, “There’s rumors that you’re a man. What do you have to say about that?”
Why Gaga didn’t address the rumors
In the Netflix program, Gaga explained that she did not feel victimized by the rumors. “And I thought: “What about a kid who is being accused of that who would think that a public figure like me would feel ashamed?”‘ The rumors circulated for about ten years and Gaga never really spoke about it until now. Correcting the lies about her was not the best course of action in this case according to the singer. This did not necessarily have to do with her, but with the people it would affect if she did speak out. In that case, I tried to be thought provoking and disruptive in another way. I tried to use the misinformation to create another disruptive point,” she explained.
