A lick of paint here, a highlight there: sometimes you just feel like a fresh new hairdo. But what if it doesn’t turn out exactly as you had imagined? With these tricks you can remove permanent hair dye from your hair.
Secretly, we all know that it is a better idea to leave your hair dyeing to a professional, but sometimes it is tempting to experiment with a new color yourself. But… what if it doesn’t turn out the way you had hoped? Is there a last resort?
Vinegar with coconut oil
To remove hair dye, it is best to use a natural remedy, because you do not want your hair to become damaged. For example, try vinegar! This remedy can help to fade the color in your hair. To prevent your hair from drying out, mix the vinegar with an equal amount of coconut oil. Rub this into your hair and let it sit for half an hour. Rinse this out with warm water and repeat as often as necessary. You will really see that the color slowly disappears!
Baking soda
According to hair colorist Reece Walker, baking soda can also help break down dye molecules. This works in much the same way as with vinegar: mix a few tablespoons of baking soda with an equal amount of water. Apply this to damp hair, and brush through briefly. Leave it on for half an hour, and then rinse with warm water. You can also repeat this method if necessary. Use some oil or a mask afterwards to nourish your hair.
Anti-dandruff shampoo
Anti-dandruff shampoo is a very strong shampoo, which can also cause the hair dye to fade. Especially in combination with the baking soda method, this is incredibly effective! Mix the anti-dandruff shampoo with some baking soda, apply it to wet hair and leave it for 5 minutes. Then rinse it out well, and repeat until the color disappears.
Last option: hair dye remover
There are also special products that are intended to remove permanent dye from your hair. If you notice that nothing really works, you can always try this. It is essential to take good care of your hair with hair oil, hair masks and conditioner, both before and after the treatment. These types of products can be extremely damaging to your hair!
