New photos and a dive into the archives for Isabella’s seventeenth birthday!
Yesterday marked exactly seventeen years since the Danish Princess Isabella was born, and that should be celebrated! For the occasion, the Danish royal couple is treated to a set of beautiful new snapshots of their eldest daughter.
Princess Isabella
On April 21, 2007, the time had finally come: for the first time in more than sixty years, rusk with pink mice could be eaten at the Danish court. The little Princess Isabella was the first daughter for the then Prince and Princess Frederik and Mary and the first granddaughter for Queen Margrethe.
Many years have now passed and the little princess has grown into a beautiful young lady. Yesterday she was allowed to blow out seventeen candles, and that was subtly celebrated. A set of domestic snapshots, with dog Coco next to it, simply shot by my mother. The princess now clearly feels better about posing for a photo than she did a few months after her birth.

The court shared the snapshots on Instagram with the simple statement that the princess would celebrate her birthday ‘with friends and family’. A subtle birthday compared to the grand gala for brother Christian’s eighteenth birthday last year.
Young adult princess
As the second child of King Frederick and Queen Mary, Isabella is now second in line to the throne. It therefore seems quite logical that the young lady will have a future at court. On the other hand, we have seen in recent years with Prince Joachim that as a spare you can simply turn your back on Denmark. You can’t even be sure of the princely titles of your offspring!
Isabella has regularly appeared at all kinds of royal events in recent years. From watching the crowd in amazement from the palace balcony…
…And fiddling with a flag…
…Until a visit with mothers to the national ballet…
…Perfectly posing like a stately princess…
…Or sprinting for her father’s sporting charity event…
…That Isabella doesn’t turn her hand to anything these days! It is to be hoped for Christian that his sister does indeed see a future at court. In any case, we see a lot of potential in the young adult princess as a source of support for her brother.
For the time being, however, she can still enjoy her teenage years for a while. Tillykke med fødselsdagen, Your Highness!
