Do you remember that nice, talkative Olof from B&B Vol Liefde? He went to Portugal for Marian, but ultimately found love in the Netherlands. In an interview with De Telegraaf, Olof and his girlfriend Margje explain how they are doing now.
Friends nominate Olof for B&B Full of Love
Olof says that he had not actually thought of participating in B&B Vol Liefde. “My friends had signed me up for the program. I wasn’t really looking for love or anything, but I thought: I’ll just go into it with an open mind.” And so he did. Olof traveled to Portugal to meet Marian, the owner of a bed & breakfast. It was fun, but there was no romance. “I look back on that time with great pleasure,” says Olof. “Marian and I became good friends, but nothing more.”
Margje saw it right away: no match
Margje, who followed every episode of B&B Vol Liefde with her daughter and granddaughter, quickly realized that Olof and Marian were not a match. “We immediately saw that there was no romance between them. Marian is a sweetheart and really nice, but just not Olof’s type. They lead completely different lives.”
Marriage proposals for Olof
After his participation, Olof suddenly received tons of attention from women. “Really bizarre, some even wanted to marry me!” he says. But one message stood out: that of Margje. “Her message was less pushy,” says Olof. What turns out? Margje’s granddaughter had secretly sent a message to Olof via Facebook. “He responded to that and that’s how the ball started rolling.” From the very first moment, things were great between the two. Margje: “I immediately thought: gosh, that guy can really talk!”
Making excuses to keep the relationship a secret
In the beginning, Olof and Margje had to keep their relationship under the radar, because the episodes of B&B Vol Liefde were still on TV. That sometimes led to funny situations. “Once we went out for dinner together on a terrace full of people. Margje came up with an excuse. When people asked who she was, she said: ‘Oh, I’m the neighbor, we regularly cycle together.’ Clever idea!”
Future plans?
Olof and Margje are still completely happy together. But living together? They don’t really need that. “As long as you can miss each other every now and then, it’s great”, they think. And they’re right. Their love is ‘perfectly fine’, ‘nothing wrong with it’!
