A good night’s sleep: with these tips you will sleep better

A good night’s sleep is very important for functioning during the day. Sleep is necessary for your body and brain to recover and to process impressions. If you sleep well at night, you can more easily deal with stress and tension during the day. A good night’s sleep can also reduce the risk of disease. These tips guarantee that you will sleep better and wake up more alert.

Provide a good sleeping environment

The more difficult it is to fall asleep, the more likely it is that sleep will be disturbed because the bedroom does not provide the right conditions for a good night’s sleep. Try to make sure the bedroom is dark, and that the room is ventilated and cool when you go to bed. If it is not possible to block out all sounds from the bedroom, for example the sound of traffic outside, try using earplugs. Also make sure that the bed is a nice, comfortable place to crawl into. The mattress must provide the right support for your back. Brighten up the bed with a nice duvet from Hipduvet cover, so that the bed is a nice place to be.

Have a routine before you go to sleep

Creating a routine before you go to sleep and sticking to it gives your body and mind a clear indication that it’s time to go to bed. Complete this routine with habits that promote sleep. Start by turning off all screens on time, such as smartphones or tablets. The incessant flow of information taxes the brain during the day. Make sure that you shield yourself from this flow of information in the evening, and give yourself a break from absorbing announcements, news and social media messages. Instead, do something that calms you down, such as reading a book or listening to an audiobook or music. We are all different and we relax in different ways. Therefore, think about what you can do or not do to help you relax and integrate this into your evening routine. Also teach yourself to go to bed around the same time every night. This way you teach your body to rest at a fixed time.

Also take care of yourself during the day

Not only the time before you go to sleep, but your entire daily schedule is important for your night’s sleep. It is therefore advisable to eat regularly and healthily. You can effectively regulate your energy level with nutrition. In this way, sleep pressure increases during the day. If you eat a good, nutritious meal a few hours before bed, you will probably find it easier to fall asleep. Sufficient exercise during the day also promotes sleep. When you exercise, the body will need rest and recovery, which will result in deeper sleep. It is not necessary to practice heavy sports: light physical exertion also has a positive effect.
