This should be of particular interest to passionate collectors! On September 8, 2022, the British royal family had to convey what was probably their most difficult news: Queen Elizabeth II (✝96) had died at Balmoral Castle surrounded by her family. With her death, a great era came to an end. For her people, the Queen of the Century will never be forgotten. Now a memento from her childhood days is for sale.
As People reports, Boston auction house RR Auction is selling a picture drawn by the late monarch. The small work of art is said to be from the early 1930s – Elizabeth was between four and six years old at the time. The red chalk drawing is supposed to represent a planned new building for the Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children in London. The highest bid for the royal souvenir is currently around 1,100 euros. The auction ends on January 10th.
Only last month it became known that the 96-year-old had no intention of finding her final resting place at Balmoral Castle. “I think there was a moment when she felt that it would be more difficult if she died at Balmoral,” her daughter Princess Anne (73) explained in a previously unpublished royal documentary, according to the Daily Mail.
