The 70-year-old first contacted his fans on Instagram with Happy New Year greetings. He then reveals that his New Year came with some unexpected challenges. “Shortly before the holidays, it was discovered that I had a brain tumor that required immediate treatment,” explains Michael and in the same breath gave the all-clear: “Thanks to my incredible team of doctors, the procedure was a success.”
However, he doesn’t feel completely fit after the operation. “Now I’m recovering at home,” he reveals, emphasizing that his family is lovingly looking after him. In the coming months, Michael wants to concentrate fully on his recovery – and is therefore taking a musical break: “It’s always the hardest thing for me to disappoint my fans or postpone a show.”
