Hilarie Burton (41) didn’t want to accept help! The actress has two children with her husband Jeffrey Dean Morgan (57). The couple’s desire to have children remained unfulfilled for a long time: within five years, the One Tree Hill actress experienced two miscarriages – she even had to undergo an abortion. But the time after her kids were born wasn’t easy either: Hilarie had postpartum depression – and was very ashamed of it!
“I never in a million years thought I would have postpartum depression. […] I was able to make the best of everything,” she recalls in the podcast “Let’s Talk Off.” That’s why I Hilarie She didn’t seek help from a midwife either, instead trying to deal with the baby on her own. “I felt humiliated because I didn’t come from a world where this was common and it meant I was a weaker woman for seeking this help,” she reveals. The presenter was incredibly ashamed that she couldn’t take care of herself, let alone the baby.
Meanwhile has Hilarie but understood that the help was necessary due to her postpartum depression. “A few years later, I was just mad. I just thought, ‘I’m not weak, I’m a good mother,'” she explains firmly.
