Oops, drama in the Hazes house! Last week the news came out that Rachel Hazes has urged her son André Hazes to no longer use the name André Hazes commercially. André himself was quite shocked by it and has now announced that he will not comply with his mother’s demands.
André does not agree
André’s spokesperson released the news on Wednesday. In an interview with ANP, he stated: ‘We have sent a polite letter to Rachel’s lawyer stating that we do not agree with her demand.’ And yes, Rachel was unavailable for comment Wednesday morning. That says enough, right?
Is this really necessary?
Rachel’s request did not come completely out of the blue. In April, the singer joked that he might no longer use his own name as a stage name if his mother “would mean harm.” He said this in the Belgian talk show De Tafel van Gert. Apparently he thought it would just be a joke, but no, that’s not the case. Rachel has now officially demanded that her son from now on be known as ‘André Hazes Jr.’. Yes, you read that right. How bizarre is that?! André’s management immediately told RTL Boulevard that Dré doesn’t understand it. “He does not understand where this action of his mother comes from. André sees himself as a proud successor to his father,” said management. So, what does Rachel actually think she’s getting out of this?
Rachel Hazes and the court drama
This is not the only lawsuit Rach is involved in. Last year, her daughter Roxeanne initiated summary proceedings against her mother about income that Rachel allegedly wrongly received as heiress of her deceased partner, André Hazes Sr. According to the will of the folk singer, who died in 2004, Rachel is not an heir, which means that she should not receive any income from him. The judge ruled that the matter had to be investigated in substantive proceedings, but that procedure has still not started. It seems that the Hazes family will be at a loss for a while!
