Maxime Meiland (28) does not get a nice surprise just after Christmas Eve. The ‘ex-jail’ from her biography, who allegedly raped her, is reporting her. According to him, the story is very different. He says there is no rape. That is why he is now filing a complaint for libel and slander and demanding that the book be removed from the stores. Oh oh!
Alleged rapist files a complaint against Maxime Meiland
After the books about Martien and Erica Meiland, the autobiography about Maxime Meiland was published at the end of March, again written by Jan Dijkgraaf. In this book he describes quite intense situations. For example, Maxime used to be “unruly”, she took refuge in drink and was raped at the age of fifteen by an ex-jail client. According to her, the rape was the final straw, causing her to end up in the gutter.
However, Maxime’s alleged rapist now says that this story is very different. That is why the now 28-year-old man is now filing a complaint against Maxime for libel and slander, his lawyer Peter Schouten confirmed to RTL Boulevard. The man tells his side of the story for the first time to the weekly magazine Story. “I’ll tell you how it went,” he says.
Sex of your own free will
The man does recognize himself in the biography and indicates that it is indeed about him. “The passages in the book are about me, there is no way to get in between them,” he tells Story. However, according to him, Maxime is withholding some details about the situation. According to the ‘ex-jail client’, as he is described in the book, he was the ‘rookie’ and Maxime had more experience with sex. So they would have done it – in the bushes – and then got caught by other boys. “In her book she doesn’t say that those boys caught us and saw with their own eyes that it was consensual sex,” he says. “She was on top of me, that was not a rape situation.”
Traumatic for Maxime
In the meantime, Maxime has always stated to the media that this situation has been very traumatic for her. At that time, her father Martien also moved to Amsterdam, while his family stayed behind in Sassenheim. That made everything even more difficult for Maxime. Then she became unruly and, according to Erica, “a very difficult child”. The alleged rape allegedly happened one evening when she was outside with some boys. An unknown boy from the village was then added, and that was the alleged rapist. “I came home and didn’t say anything. I didn’t say anything for years,” she previously told Boulevard about this. “I felt so alone and I thought: I will never get over this.”
According to her current husband Leroy, she still sometimes suffers from it, for example when they are playing around. “You grab her the wrong way, just out of good intentions,” he says. “But we’ve had a few times where she completely panics or starts crying and runs away.”
Maxime does not want to respond to the alleged rapist’s report.
Requirement
The alleged rapist in turn demands that the book be removed from stores as long as the stories about him are not changed. He also demands a correction in De Telegraaf and material and immaterial damages. According to his lawyer, it is clear that his client has suffered “serious reputational damage” from people close to him.
