Last year, the long-awaited book The Woman In Me was published, about the ins and outs of Britney Spears. From the pressure she experienced as a child star, to the abortion she underwent during her relationship with Justin Timberlake and of course the controversial guardianship of her father – Brit was unprecedentedly candid. And now that story has a sequel, because there is apparently a movie coming out of it!

These days, she mostly makes headlines by dancing around in revealing bikinis on social media, but there’s no denying that Britney Spears made waves as the princess of pop for years.
In her memoir, The Woman in Me, however, she revealed how little control she actually had over her life. And that caused quite a stir! Spears herself stated in response to all the media fuss: “It is a book that I actually didn’t know needed to be written. Although some people may be offended, I have been able to find closure with it for a better future. I hope that I can ease the pain of others who feel hurt or misunderstood.”
Movie
And now there is a biopic about the pop princess, Variety reports. Studio Universal Pictures is said to have bought the rights, with Wicked director Jon M. Chu directing and producer Marc Platt for the upcoming biopic.
According to Variety, a real battle broke out over these film rights, and Universal emerged as the winner after a tough auction. Not so strange in itself, because the book was an absolute bestseller last year. In the United States alone, Brit-Brit sold around 2.5 million copies, and publisher Simon & Schuster announced that the audiobook was their best-selling copy of all time. It seems certain that Universal Pictures has a blockbuster on its hands with this.
‘Secret project’
Britney herself also seemed to confirm the news via social media. For example, she shared the message via X, formerly Twitter, that she was working on a ‘secret project’ with Marc Platt.

No further information about the project has been released yet, although we’re guessing it’s only a matter of time. Who knows what other eye-opening details will be revealed in this upcoming film. We certainly can’t wait!
