Ooh: The Crown nominated for 18 Emmy Awards

And these are all the nominees!

There have been many great series on TV and streaming services in the past year. To put them in the spotlight, the nominations for the annual Emmy Awards were revealed yesterday. The royal drama series The Crown is one of the big contenders.

Emmy Awards

Just a little more patience, because in September it will finally be time again: the big winners of the Emmys will be announced in a glitzy ceremony. In the run-up to this glamorous event, the lists of nominees are traditionally revealed first. With weeks of campaigning, Hollywood bigwigs hope to promote their pearls to the selection committee, and in some cases that results in an impressive list of nominations!

Major contenders

Among them is The Crown. The final season of the sizzling Netflix series about the British royal family has received no less than eighteen nods from the selection.

The Crown is up for nominations in the categories Best Drama Series, Best Director and Best Screenplay. Imelda Staunton (for her role as Elizabeth) and Dominic West (who played Charles) are also nominated for Best Actor in a Drama Series.

While that’s certainly an impressive number of nominations, there are a few series that have an even better chance of winning. For example, Only Murders in the Building walked away with 21 nominations, The Bear has a whopping 23 chances, and the series Shōgun has been nominated a whopping 25 times.

All nominees

So we still have to be patient until September 15th, when the awards ceremony will take place in Los Angeles. But hey, that also means there is still plenty of time to binge all the nominated series!
