Busted! This is the most commonly used work-from-home excuse

During and after the corona pandemic, it is the most normal thing in the world to work from home a lot. Sitting in the office all day is no longer necessary, so why would you? Do you have the feeling that a number of colleagues (or yourself) are making very good use of working from home and may be using various excuses to avoid being in that one meeting? This is the most common work-from-home excuse to get out of work (and this gender in particular uses it). Read on!

Working from home

Being able to do your work from home is a real solution for many people. Less travel time, lower costs, but certainly less energy spent on annoying colleagues in the office. Working from home or hybrid working is wonderful. Did you know that Wednesday and Friday are the most popular working days from home? People who like to work in the office are happiest on Tuesdays and Thursdays, because that is when most hybrid workers are present on location. Anyone who doesn’t like traffic jams and overcrowded public transport will be miserable on these days.

Most popular work from home excuse

Although hybrid working or working completely from home is very nice for many, you or your co-workers will of course also make excuses. We all know the ‘I just went to the toilet’ or ‘the doorbell rang’ excuses, but the most popular is also the most obvious: ‘my WiFi isn’t working’. This has emerged from a study by connectivity expert Netgear.

WiFi problems

If your WiFi is really spotty, we’ll give you a pass this time, but there are also home workers who sometimes abuse their ‘bad WiFi’. It may be that your camera, sound or entire connection does not work during a meeting, but during every morning meeting? Explain that to your boss.

Sex

Netgear’s research also showed that a certain gender uses this excuse most often. With your female colleagues, you don’t have to worry that they will use the WiFi excuse if you have planned a meeting or assignment with them. With men, on the other hand… they have a habit of not being connected at important moments. Hmm, could that possibly be due to the Playstation connection they have on at the same time? Who knows.
