Thijs Boermans explains in the most recent episode of his podcast Borrelpraat that he presented the flight attendants with a major challenge during his flight to South Africa.
South Africa
Thijs and his girlfriend Anna Nooshin enjoyed a great holiday together in South Africa. However, on the return flight, Thijs lost his mobile phone…
Blurred by the pills
“There was a moment when I took five sleeping pills,” Thijs begins his story about the flight. “They weren’t any strange pills, just the ones you can get at the drugstore. When we landed, I started looking for my phone.” But the cell phone was nowhere to be found, even though Thijs had just had it in his hands. He wanted to be one of the first to leave the plane to avoid the long lines at passport control. “So I started looking, but I was kind of hazy from those pills.”
Staff
Thijs asked a flight attendant for help. She started to take apart the chair in an attempt to find the phone, but even that was to no avail. Even using Find my iPhone from the pilot’s phone yielded no results. “I’m a bit chaotic, but how hard can it be to find a phone? I only had it an hour ago!”
Napkins and trays
After a desperate search, Thijs suddenly remembered what had happened. He accidentally left his phone under a napkin on his tray after dinner and then handed the tray back to the flight attendant. “So I said, ‘Ma’am, we have to go through all those plates and bowls, because my phone is among them.’ I even checked out two carts of flight attendants until my phone finally came out.” Ultimately, he was the last in line at passport control.
