This is the time when you become most stressed

We all have to deal with it sometimes: stress. According to research, there is a time when we are most tense.

The time for stress

British researchers wondered if there was one specific time of day that was most stressful than all other times. They conducted the study on behalf of the company Rescue Remedy, and after interviewing more than two thousand people, they came to the conclusion that the early birds have it the most.

What time?

The time that would cause the most stress is early in the morning, at seven to seven, or 7:23 am. This actually sounds quite logical when you consider that the daily tension is caused by a bad night’s sleep, fatigue or the prospect of a busy school or working day. Now that’s nice to get up from!

Biggest factors

The British researchers went one step further: they asked respondents not only what time of day makes them tense, but also what gives them the most tension. And what does this research show? Common answers included oversleeping, spilling something or being stuck in a traffic jam. According to the research, everyone is also confronted with an average of three stressful events per day.

Solutions

The researchers not only investigated what the worst time was or what the biggest factors were, but also came up with solutions. They found the three most common ways to discharge are listening to nice music, taking time for yourself or taking a walk. Other solutions for getting rid of tension include:

  • Talk about it: Explain the situation and discuss the problems with someone. This provides an overview of the problem and helps you gain new insights.
  • Sports, such as running, cycling or fitness: A lot of exercise and sports will ensure that you have less tension and, if it is already there, you can get rid of it more quickly. You feel more positive and help reduce worries.
  • Sleep: A good night’s sleep helps you cope with problems and process them better. When you are rested you will be able to think more clearly.
  • Healthy eating: Healthy and varied food ensures that you stay fit. The nutrients can also ensure that you have more energy and a more positive outlook on life.
  • No addictive substances: Using addictive substances such as alcohol, drugs or nicotine can make you feel relaxed for a while, but the problems can worsen afterwards.
