This Man Has Done the World’s First Face Transplant
Joe is a 24-year-old man from New Jersey who was involved in a serious car accident in July 2018. He fell asleep while driving, causing his car to crash and burst into flames. Joe suffered third-degree burns over 80% of his body and his fingertips were amputated. After the accident, Joe underwent over twenty reconstructive surgeries and skin grafts. A major step in his recovery came two years later when he received the world’s first full face transplant, as well as a double hand transplant. A complex medical procedure. Very challenging and rare, but with beautiful results. It not only gave Joe a new face, but also a new chance at life.
Love found
Unfortunately, Joe lost many friends due to his injuries. However, despite the event, he remains grateful for what happened. His accident brought him into contact with his current girlfriend, Jessica Koby. She is a 32-year-old nurse. Joe was ready to find love despite his injuries and this certainly succeeded. The two came into contact with each other via Instagram. Jessica came across Joe’s inspiring recovery story on Instagram. She was immediately impressed. Conversations started and slowly more. Their relationship started long distance, but Jessica soon decided to move to New Jersey from Southern California. This way they could be close to each other. Very nice of course. They now live together and have two dogs, namely Terriers Buster and Kirkland.
Jessica indicates that Joe is a calm, but very friendly and courageous man. He has been through a lot, but despite everything he has a positive attitude. You can see this in everything. Joe especially appreciates the independence he has regained after the operation. He has not fully recovered yet, but he enjoys everything. Cooking, cleaning and driving. You name it. He enjoys everything. Thanks to the support of his girlfriend Jessica, Joe is now looking to the future with confidence. He is madly in love and is looking forward to doing all kinds of things together with his girlfriend.
