On the sidelines and partying among the athletes: the Dutch national team is completely immersed in the Olympic atmosphere.
The whole world is currently in the grip of the 2024 Olympic Games. And that also applies to our own royals! Máxima, Willem-Alexander, Amalia and Alexia are currently in Paris to encourage all the athletes of TeamNL, and that provides cozy images.
Olympic Games in Paris
Max, Wim-Lex and their two eldest daughters are currently in Paris for the Olympic Games. On Friday evening, the royal couple braved the rain in rain ponchos during the official opening ceremony, and they showed their support for the Dutch athletes. “Good luck to all the Olympians of #TeamNL in #Paris2024! Your hard work, dedication and passion have brought you here. Enjoy to the fullest and make the Netherlands proud. We look forward to exciting competitions and special sporting achievements in Paris,” the king and queen wrote on Instagram.

Olympic village
As we are used to from our Oranjes, they do not only show their support from the sidelines. Later in the weekend they go to the Olympic village, where they meet the athletes and celebrate extensively. Small sidenote: can we give some extra attention to Amalia’s casual look with jeans? We are fans!

Willem-Alexander also expresses a beautiful wish for all athletes. “First of all, that they should enjoy the fact that they are now Olympians. That they are now truly part of something unique, the Olympic Games. And that they should also just do their best as always. But I don’t have to tell them that, they know that already,” he says with a wink.
Matches
The royal couple and their daughters have a full program. Whether it’s hockey matches, dressage or mountain biking, the Oranjes are faithfully ready to cheer on the Dutch players.

How nice: during their meeting with the dressage and eventing riders of TeamNL, the princesses also got the opportunity to cuddle horses. Both daughters wear a lovely outfit with jeans, while mom Máxima chose a blouse by Alexis with a matching pleated skirt.

Amalia and horses
It is not surprising that the girls are completely in their element in the Olympic stables. Did you know that Amalia is also a fanatic horse rider? You might just run into her in a provincial riding school, far from The Hague, together with her horse Mojito. Among the horses, that is where the heir to the throne feels she can truly be herself. “I am most myself on a horse. If you really want to get to know me, you have to see me ride,” she said in the book that Claudia de Breij wrote about her.
