The top model breathes new life into old-fashioned glasses.
You know it: those ladies in the library with those recognizable dusty glasses. And although you wouldn’t expect it at first, these ‘dusty glasses’ are making a real comeback. Or well, if we can believe some A-listers. For example, Bella Hadid took the first step towards the return of glasses. And, there’s a good chance that your grandma still has it somewhere in the attic.
Comeback trends
We often see trends from years ago making a comeback. Low rise jeans are back in fashion, we are wearing headbands again en masse and every fashionista wears UGGs. And whether you like it or not: library glasses are also back. Yes indeed: those narrow rectangular bayonetta glasses that have been adorning your grandmother’s nose for years. If all of Hollywood suddenly starts using it, you can be sure: this will become a huge trend. Teen Vogue also knows for sure: “The ’00s-inspired circular style became popular in 2023 and is poised to completely take over this year,” says the magazine.
Trendsetter
We dare not say who the trendsetter was, but Bella Hadid was certainly there early. Last year, the top model was spotted with small glasses on her nose at every turn.

TikTok filter
Good: now it looks great on Bella, of course, but that goes for just about everything. Before you run to the store to get the same pair, it is nice to get an idea of whether such glasses will do your face much good. Enter: TikTok. The app has introduced a filter that allows you to see if you like the trend.
Are you completely convinced? Then the good news is that you don’t have to dig deep into your pockets for a trendy one. The glasses can be purchased for a few euros at the local HEMA, Kruidvat or Action. And otherwise you can just knock on your grandma’s door again…
