Dave Roelvink will help people with addiction: “wants to use social media in a good way”

You can’t just get rid of an addiction. You have to do something for that. Dave Roelvink did something about his addiction in a rehab clinic in South Africa. Now that he is completely clean himself, his thinking also seems to have changed. He would like to do something for other people with an addiction. He will therefore use his Instagram to help people with addiction.

Dave Roelvink will help people with addiction

Dave Roelvink knows better than anyone that kicking the habit from an addiction is not easy. At one point he had kicked the habit and lived without alcohol and drugs for more than two years. However, he subsequently suffered a relapse. That’s why he went back to rehab in South Africa. He has been out of there for a few months now and Dave is doing well again. Only he knows that many other people still struggle with addiction. That’s why Dave intervenes now. “2023 was a tough year, but sitting in a corner crying doesn’t suit me,” he writes under a recent video. All the support he has received during his recovery process has made him think. He wants to use his social media “in a good way”. That’s why he’s going to help other people with addiction, he says in the video on Instagram.

Living in recovery

He previously wrote in an Instagram post that “addiction is a chronic disease”. “It’s a lifelong struggle and not a temporary thing,” he said at the time. That is why he would like to share his experiences with withdrawal with other people who, like him, struggle with addiction. According to him, it is important that someone develops himself. People must create different norms and values, according to Dave. “I lived in recovery for three years, so I learned a lot from that,” he says. For example, he wants to say something about breathing exercises and meditations on his social media. “Anything that helps me become a happier, happier and better person,” he explains.

Dave’s new role as ‘addiction coach’ provides a nice distraction. Not long ago he broke up with his girlfriend Jazzlyn, with whom he had been together for about 3.5 years. They also have a son together, Dean. It was therefore a painful decision for the couple. “Painful to have to accept that our family is falling apart, which I am so proud of,” Dave said in a statement on Instagram at the time. They both thought it was important to arrange everything well around son Dean: “We have made good agreements about contact arrangements.” Now he focuses on his son, family, his own recovery and therefore helping other people with addiction.
