No matter how many times you decide not to do it, three mulled wines later, even the biggest Grinch will shout “ii-isss you-ou-ouuuuuuu” along. There’s no doubt about it, All I Want for Christmas is the unofficial soundtrack of Christmas. We wondered: what happens every year for Miss Mariah?
Royalties
Mariah looks sizzling hot, you know. All I Want for Christmas currently has 457,818,333 views on YouTube, 382,837,253 streams on Spotify, and has sold over 14 million copies. And what does it earn annually? Just sit down for a moment…
The pop star receives around 423,000 euros in royalties for her most famous song. Yet All I Want for Christmas is not the best deserved Christmas song. Merry Christmas Everybody by the British band Slade from 1973 fares slightly better. They earn the colossal amount of 562,000 euros every year. And The Pogues are doing well too. They still rake in 450,000 flaps every year with Fairytale of New York.
So um, do you want to earn some extra money next year? Make a Christmas song.
